April 21, 2026，The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality organization (SASO) issued a notification announcing the update of energy efficiency standards for low-voltage electrical equipment and appliances, and clarified the mandatory enforcement timeline.

According to the latest requirements, the updated versions of the following standards have been officially adopted:

• SASO-2663:2025

AIR CONDITIONERS MINIMUM ENERGY PERFORMANCE, LABELLING AND TESTING REQUIREMENTS FOR LOW CAPACITY WINDOW AND SINGLE-SPLIT TYPES

• SASO-2874:2025 

AIR CONDITIONERS – MINIMUM ENERGY PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS AND TESTING REQUIREMENTS

The updated standards shall take effect from December 1, 2026. As of the enforcement date, no Certificates of Conformity or shipment certificates shall be issued for products that do not comply with the updated standards.
