On September 4, 2024, the Chilean Ministry of Energy approved Resolution No. 35, which outlines the final technical specifications for the energy efficiency of household refrigeration equipment and establishes the corresponding energy efficiency label.
Regulatory updates:
The purpose of this document is to introduce a methodology for the classification and labelling of energy efficiency for household and similar refrigerating appliances (refrigerators, freezers and refrigerator-freezers). The classification calculation, energy calculation and design of the energy efficiency label are presented.
The purpose of the label is to inform the final consumer of the energy efficiency level of household refrigerating appliances powered by the mains electricity supply and other parameters that are important for the purchasing decision.
While the energy efficiency calculation methodology is based on the European Union's Delegated Regulation (EU) 2019/2016, it has been modified to adapt to the Chilean labelling classification.
1.1 This document specifies the methodology for the classification and labelling requirements of energy efficiency for household and similar refrigerating appliances (refrigerators, freezers and refrigerator-freezers) connected to the mains electricity supply for operation. This includes Frigobars.
1.2 The following products are exempted from this requirement:
a) Refrigerating appliances using a cooling medium other than an electric compressor (e.g. refrigerating appliances using absorption technology or semiconductor cells).
b) Commercial refrigerated furniture for the sale and display of groceries, as defined in PE Agreement No. 1/28/2.
c) Freezers having any of the following characteristics:
to. Total volume exceeds 650 liters
b. Three-phase industrial power supply voltage 380 V~ phase to phase
d) Special refrigeration units for preserving wine (wine cellars).
e) Special refrigeration units for preserving beverages, beer and similar products
f) Refrigeration units whose main function is not to preserve food
g) Mobile refrigeration units, such as those used in motor vehicles for transporting refrigerated and/or frozen goods; and those used in mobile homes.
h) Using batteries as power source
i) Using three-phase AC voltage
