On June 26, 2024, European Union published an initiative to consult on restriction of dechlorane plus under Regulation (EU) 2019/1021 on persistent organic pollutants (POPs). Comments are welcome until July 24, 2024.

Dechlorane Plus is a synthetic substance mainly used as a flame retardant in adhesives/sealants and polymers. It was identified by ECHA as a Substance of Very High Concern (SVHC) in 2018 because of its very persistent and very bioaccumulative (vPvB) properties.

In Part A of Annex I, the following entry is added:
