On May 15, 2020, the German National Technical Safety Commission Center ZLS updated the EK9-BE-91 (V3) released on March 9th. After the update, it was changed to two resolutions EK9-BE-91 (V4) and EK9-BE-101.

Scope of the new resolution:Under the Machinery Directive, battery-powered power tools, garden tools and other mechanical products marked with the GS mark are marked.

EK9-BE-91(v4)

This resolution belongs to the category B resolution and will be implemented from the date of publication. If the seller fails to conduct supplementary evaluation tests in accordance with the resolution within 6 months, the existing GS certificate will be revoked.

The specific contents of the resolution are as follows:

1. The charger meets the requirements of EN 60335-2-29;

2. Nickel battery cells and battery packs meet the requirements of the IEC/EN 62133-1 standard;

3. Lithium battery cell and battery pack meet the requirements of IEC/EN 62133-2 standard;

4. If the battery pack complies with EN 62841-1 Appendix K for evaluation, only the internal cells need to meet the requirements of the IEC / EN 62133-1 / -2 standard.

Note: The old version EN 62133: 2013 has expired on 2020-03-14, please remind the seller to pay attention to the upgrade standard test in time.

EK9-BE-101

This resolution is a category C resolution. It will be enforced at least 3 months after the date of issuance.  Products with newlyissued certificate must meet the requirements of this resolution. Existing GS certified products do not require supplementary assessment and certification.

The specific contents of the resolution are as follows:

1. The charger meets the requirements of EN 60335-2-29;

2. The lithium battery core meets the requirements of the IEC/EN 62133-2 standard;

3. The battery management system (BMS) is evaluated in accordance with Appendix K of EN 62841-1. In addition, the BMS system must include monitoring:

3.1. Cell temperature (high/low);

3.2. Cell voltage (high/low);

3.3. Cell current (high).

4. The performance level of the above monitoring circuit meets PL = c, the relevant electronic circuit hardware is evaluated in accordance with ISO 13849-1, and the software is evaluated in accordance with EN 60730-1 Appendix H.

The above two EK9 resolutions will fully affect the GS certification and export of battery tools, garden tools, and machinery products. Customers are requested to notify sales and technical personnel for standard upgrade testing as soon as possible. We will provide you with technical support.
