With the continuous development of the Times and the increasing attention of the public on the energy efficiency of products, EU has also established its own energy labelling product registration system EPREL, to facilitate consumers to query the energy efficiency information of products. For product suppliers, this means there are new requirements before the products enter the EU market.

Recently, the European Union issued EPREL mandatory energy labelling database registration instructions for lighting and other products.

EPREL energy labelling database registration timeline：

• From 1 January 2019, the product registration must be completed before placing any product on the European market.

• The market surveillance authorities will be able to check the product database for energy labels and product information in the EPRELas January 2020.

• In november 2020, EPREL system will open the registration for new energy labelling for Televisions, Refrigerating, Washing machines and Tumbel dryers

• From May 15, 2020 to May 31, 2020, EPREL system was temporarily shut down for system upgrade.

• In november 2020, EPREL system will open the registration for new energy labelling for lighting products

• In december 2020. Consumers will be able to search the public product database for energy labels and product information.

• In March 2021, Consumers will be able to view the new energy labelling related information for Televisions, Refrigerating, Washing machines and Tumbel dryers.

• In September 2021, Consumers will be able to view the new energy labelling related information for lighting products.

Information to be registered in the database includes: Energy labelling、Technical documentation and Compliance certificates.

The newest energy labelling for light sources regulation is (EU) 2019/2015, Using a scale of energy efficiency classes from A (most efficient) to G (least efficient).

Label Designs include two types as below:

1. Standard-sized label:

For the standard-sized label at least 36 mm wide and 75 mm high

2. Small-sized label:

For the small-sized label (width less than 36 mm) at least 20 mm wide and 54 mm high.

• The packaging shall not be smaller than 20 mm wide and 54 mm high.
