On April 24th 2020, SDPPI released an official announcement about the recognition of foreign test lab for mobile phone), handheld computers and tablets (HKT). SDPPI has cut the list from previously 45 foreign testing labs to be 33 testing labs now.

Foreign test lab recognition is based on following criteria:

• Has the ability to test telecommunication tools based on the technical requirements set in Indonesia or equivalent;

• Has an accreditation certificate as a test lab based on ISO/IEC 17025;

• Registered as a member of the Global Certification Forum (GCF) and / or Cellular Telecommunication and Internet Association (CTIA).

The other main points are as follows:

• The test reports issued by the foreign test lab that has been recognized by SDPPI can be used as application fulfillment for certification of HKT product.

• The recognized foreign testing lab must appoint a person in charge that states: name of the person in charge, phone number and email address.

• HKT test report must include a summary containing reference page information of the test result and information about Indonesian technical requirement that becomes the testing reference.

This Director General Decree have come into force since April 15 2020 and valid until July 21, 2020. After that SDPPI may issue new notification.
