SEC New Regulation Requires EPS of Computers to have SEC Seal

On July 2 2019, Chile´s SEC created a new protocol that will come into effect next year and will affect to all the manufacturers and importers who wants to sell External Power Supplies into the Chilean market.


This protocol established the certification procedure for external power sources for computers (laptops and desktops) and tablet chargers that use switched sources.


As of January 2, 2021, a new regulation will come into effect for Chile SEC, manufacturers and importers must have the respective Safety Approval Certificate prior to marketing the product in the country, this safety approval certificate is in accordance with IEC 60950-1:2005.


From September 1, 2021, all external sources of energy for computers and tablet chargers must be marketed with the respective security certificate, SEC Seal, marketed or sold in Chile.
