The latest notification on LED bulbs from the Indian Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE)：

On 9 October 2019, the energy efficiency bureau of India officially issued the latest revised requirements for self-ballasted LED lamps S.O. 3631 (E), which mainly modified the old Star Rating level and the timeline of implementation. 

Indian LED lamp BEE requirement：

1. LED Lamp Scope:

This schedule specifies self-ballasted LED lamps for general lighting services having rated power from 3 to 25 watts, that works on single phase alternating current supply up to and including 250V, 50Hz, being manufactured, imported or sold in India.

Star rating: there is no negative tolerance for star rating; all tested products must be at par or better than star rating band threshold.

4. Product Family series requirements:

A, The parent model is highest power, only one wattage in each group will go for complete life test.

B, Each model must be tested for 0 hours to determine the Star rating。

C, 1000 hours test report to be submitted within 3 months form the date of approval

D, 25% of declare life test report to be submitted within 1 year from the date of approval

E, Foradditional CCT, only the lumen/watt and CCT report shall be submitted and not need life report again.

F, For a different (Higher) star rating band, the procedure shall be complied with。

5. Label design：

A, The label on wrapper; see below (a)：

Can be printed or pasted directly on the packaging。

B, The label on lamp; see below (b):

6. FEES：

The manufacturer shall provide the information about the LED lamp wattage equivalent to incandescent lamp wattage on the packing。

7. Verification by Bureau

A, The Bureau or its designated agency may carry out verification to ensure that the self-ballasted LED lamp conforms to the star level and other particulars displayed on its label and that it complies with the other terms and conditions of permission。

B, the Bureau or its designated agency may pick up samples at random from the manufacturing facility, warehouse or the retail outlet as it deems fit.

8. Consequences for failure:

A, The label and permission will be withdrawn.

B, Send report to the Central Government accompanied by the test report in support of the failure by the permittee to conform to the energy consumption standards notified by the Central Government.

C, Publish in any national or regional daily ne newspaper and in any electronic or in any other manner as it deems fit within two months, the name of the permittee, brand name, model name or model number.logo and other specifications.

D, Intimate to the concerned State Designated Agencies to initiate further adjudication proceedings against the permittee.
