On March 5, 2020, The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has backed the agency’s proposal recommending seven substances of very high concern be added to REACH Annex XIV – the authorisation list. The deadline for commenting is June 5, 2020.

The current Annex XIV authorisation list contains 54 substances. Once the substance is included in the authorisation list, the manufacturer, importer or downstream user in European Union (EU) cannot use the substances or place these substances on the market after the “sunset date”, unless the authorisation is granted.
