IEC 62368-1 third edition (IEC 60368-1:2018) (audio, video, information and communications technology equipment - part 1: security requirements) is issued in 2018.This standard is based on the principles of hazard prevention and safety engineering and is intended to replace IEC 62368-1 2nd edition (IEC 60368-1:2014) during the transitional period. The third edition contains important technical revisions that will replace the second edition. ANSI/UL 62368-1-2019 and CAN/CSA C22.2 No. 62368-1:19 which are all released in December 2019 and are in general use in the United States and Canada are in accordance with IEC 62368-1 third edition. The standard is also approved by the American National Standards Institute and the Standards Council of Canada as American national standard and Canadian national standard respectively.

Announcement effective and Applicable products

The third editions of ANSI/UL 62368-1 and CAN/CSA C22.2 no.62368-1 were released in December 2019. The new versions are named ANSI/UL 62368-1-2019 and CAN/CSA C22.2 No. 62368-1:19 respectively.

From the effective date of this announcement, manufacturers can apply for new product certification or renew product certification with the new version of the standards.
