ANSI /UL8750:2015(Ed.2) Rev. August 22,2018 update requirements

ANSI /UL8750:2015(Ed.2) Rev. August 22,2018 Supplement SF  will be updated from 2020-05-01. The main reason is that the control line needs to be isolated from other lines or meet the exception a-e. Please see the following standard text

Requirement for manual and marking label

For the LED control circuit shown below, if the following conditions are met, the isolation circuit can be removed.

(a) If the control circuit is not exposed, it is covered by a fire/shock proof enclosure.

(b) The control circuit has been proved to be safe from fire and electric shock by abnormal test.

(c) The control circuit shall not affect the isolation of the primary circuit or other secondary circuits;

(d) Warning slogan of SF8.4 shall be printed on the control circuit:

"Notice: This circuits not isolated-see installation instruction”，

(e) Add the description of SF8.5 to the installation manual.

How to do for the LED driver and luminaire manufacturer?

Influence: It is valid for both power supply manufacturers and lamp manufacturers. For products that have been successfully listed, 2020-05-01 has not been updated to a new version. The UL website will cancel the listing and will affect the shipment of power supply manufacturers. For lamp manufacturers, you need to pay attention to the company UL listed information for purchasing power products. If the power supply is unlisted, you need to wait for the power supply to be re-listed before it can be shipped normally.

Answer:
 If the LED Driver only needs to update the warning signs and instructions, and does not need to change the circuit, the luminaire manufacturer can wait for the LED Driver manufacturer to update the report and then ship again. The luminaire manufacturer does not need to re-certify the luminaire; , otherwise,The luminaire also needs to be re-certified.

The LED Driver used by A luminaire manufacturers is a un-listed certified LED Driver. What should be done with this standard update?

Answer:
 If the LED Driver is a un-listed certified power supply, a standard update is required along with the luminaire report.
