VN/ViệtnamOn 25 October 2019, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued a direct final rule within the Federal Register for mandatory standard 16 CFR Part 1217- Safety Standard for Infant toddler beds. The rule revised the mandatory safety standard to incorporate, by reference, the most recent version of the applicable standard ASTM F1821-19e1. The rule will be effective on January 27, 2020, unless significant adverse comment would be received by November 25, 2019.
The previous version of the 16 CFR 1217 referenced the ASTM F1821-16 with no modifications. Compared to the 2016 version of the ASTM F1821, the 2019e1 version includes a modification to the testing of toddler bed side rails and several editorial changes.
This rule would not significantly change third party testing for compliance to the safety standard, the Commission considers the existing CPSC-accepted laboratories for testing to ASTM F1821–16 to be capable of testing to ASTM F1821–19e1 as well.
