Pay Attention! Changes on Mexico NOM has Come into Effect
Publisher:Admin  Source:  Date:2019/8/23

Changes on Mexico NOM has come into effect on June 3, 2019, those who do not follow the update regulation may face problems when passing the custom.

The summary of the main changes are as follows:

1.NOM certificates are required to show the HS Code

· New HS Codes were listed as mandatory to comply with NOM Standards, either safety, telecom, etc.

· NOM Certificates will again show the HS Code. Starting June 3rd, all current NOM certificates, even those that were issued in the past, need to show the HS Code, otherwise they will not be valid at Customs and importations cannot be carried out.

2.The range of control is extended

· Importers who previously chose to obtain a NOM, working with “exception letters”, will now be required to obtain a mandatory NOM.

· Goods that were not sold to the general public or imported for manufacturing process, will now require a NOM.

· Dictums on Highly Specialized devices will continue to be issued, however, the Custom Agent will be able to check if such goods, imported under that scheme, are in fact, Highly Specialized Equipment, and will have the right to reject it, if it’s not the case.

Please note that for all existing certificates that do not list the HS Code, a new hard copy of the certificate showing the HS Code can be requested.
