Recall cases of toys in July 2019

In July 2019, there were total 74 recall cases on toys in the major global markets. Thereinto, 69 recalls were published at the European Commission Rapid Alert System (RAPEX), which always releases the most notifications on recalled toys. Also, the U.S. published 3 recalls, the Canada and Australia each published 1 recall.


The potential danger of these recalled toys mainly came from the restricted chemicals that may have effects on health and intelligence development, and small parts which may lead to choking. The map as below:

Suggestion:

Small parts, strangulation, chemical such as phthalate, AZO, SCCPs, PAHs, total lead, cadmium are all high risk items of children product. To be safe, establish an integrated product safety traceability mechanism, and set up a quality and safety critical control point in the product design, manufacturing process control, final testing and other aspects.
