The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of People’s Republic of China issued a detailed guide- "Service Guide to Type Approval for Radio Transmission Equipment" (short for New Guide) on October 11, 2018, which will be implemented on October 15, 2018.

The differences between New guide and Old Guide are as follows:

The payer of model approval fee will be changed from company to the government. However, in any of the following circumstances, company shall negotiate with the testing body for the testing cost:

(1) The equipment to be tested cannot be sold or used in China because it does not comply with the national standards and the relevant national radio management provisions;

(2) It has not been sold or used in China though obtaining the model approval certificate due to market and other reasons.

Firstly, changes of the information list:

3. Type Approval Commitment Letter for Radio Transmission Equipment is added (purchases and sales contract or other materials that can prove the products tested will be put into the market)

4. The copy of the applicant's business license or the corporate certificate of public institutions since then shall have the applicant's signature.

5. Critical RF component list is newly required

6. Specifying the way that the type approval code is displayed in the user manual.

7. Specifying the way that the electronic label is displayed

Secondly, process changes

The review cycle of the MIIT after submitting the report and related materials has changed from 20 working days to 30 working days.
