Correction fluid, which is a common school supplies in the stationery store, would be used to cover the wrong writing with a layer for most students. This small stationery, however, caused a six-year-old boy, Xiaojun, 30% burns of his body in Bijie city, Guizhou province.

The reporter met Xiaojun in the burn and plastic surgery ward of the hospital. He lay in a bed，and his burned head and neck were covered with medicine.

On the evening of May 23, the six-year-old boy, Xiaojun, and his four-year-old brother were playing in the room when a sudden explosion scared Xiaojun's mother.

The family tried to put out the fire on xiaojun’s body and sent him to the hospital as soon as possible when they saw the child’s body was firing. When the cause of the burn was mentioned, it scared the whole family.

The cause of the fire was that Xiaojun inadvertently lit the correction fluid when he was playing with the lighter. And we can see that there is still white liquid of correction fluid on Xiaojun's hands and feet.

Expert opinions: the correction fluid is flammable and volatile

Zhang kejin, the ICU director of the burn department in Guigang hospital, said that the correction fluid is flammable and volatile. It would burn up when it meet the source of fire.

In addition, the doctors said the correction fluid also contains benzene, lead and other toxic substances that are harmful to human health. When it attaches to the skin， it may cause chronic poisoning. Because the children’s skin is more delicate and its thickness is not like the adults’, the hospital would take debridement treatment to Xiaojun early.
