SASO released five energy efficiency standards for household appliances recently, which will replace the old standard. The dryer and water heater are newly incorporated into the Saudi energy efficiency control directory.

On February 28, 2018, the Saudi standards organization SASO held a seminar on new standards for energy efficiency in household appliances, setting a formal timetable for the implementation of the new energy efficiency standards.

New standard implementation schedule:

• March 2018: SASO registration system begins to accept new standard energy efficiency applications.

• June 2018: SASO registration system no longer accepts the old standard energy efficiency application.

• July 2018: the COC certificate will be accepted only if the product meets the new energy efficiency label.

• September 30, 2018 is the deadline that use of old standard energy efficiency certificates and energy efficiency label.

• October 1, 2018: products that do not meet the new standards will be rejected, while domestic manufacturers also ban products that do not meet new standards.

• September 2019: start market spot check, the product that does not stick new standard energy efficiency label will give punishment.
