According to a declaration issued by Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology in 2018-02-21,the third phase products (see the table below) newly included in the BIS certification system were originally scheduled to come into force on 2018-02-23. However, in view of the enterprises shareholders needs to discuss the involved issues and the manufacturer needs more time to adapt to the new rules. The effective date will be postponed until May 23, 2018.

If BIS publishes the latest standard in the next six months, all the product registration standards that are included in the compulsory certification will be subject to the latest BIS standards. For registered products, MeitY will be tested in accordance with the latest BIS standards. In addition, renewal certificates also need to be based on the fact that all products comply with the latest BIS standards.
