China Standard GB 31701-2015 on Infant & Children Textile product

GB 31701-2015 applies to infant and children’s textiles sold domestically in China. and goes into effect on June 1, 2016.


This standard does not cover items such as soft or stuffed toys, textile crafts or art work, disposable sanitary products, handbags, suitcases, backpacks, umbrellas, carpets, rugs and professional sportswear.

 

Textile products for infants: Textile products that are worn or used by infants at and below 36 months of age, Generally applicable to textile products for infants with a height of 100cm and under.

 

Textile products for children: Textile products that are worn or used by children of 3 years to 14 years of age, Generally applicable to textile products for wearing and use by girls with a height between 100cm and 155cm, or boys with a height between 100cm and 160cm. Wherein, wearing by children with a height of 130cm and under can be treated as children’s clothing for age of 7 and under.

 

Quality requirements of GB 31701-2015 (Including GB 18401-2011)

Filling requirement:

The fiber filling and down and feather filling shall comply with the safety requirements of the GB 18401, the down and feather shall comply with the microbial requirements of GB/T 17685. The safety requirements of other fillings are subject to national regulations and mandatory standards.

 

Small parts requirements

The infant textile products shall not use attachments of ≤3mm, all kinds of attachments which may be grabbed and bitten by infants, their tension requirements are below:

Sharp points, sharp edges

Textile products for Infants and children should not have accessible sharp points and sharp edges.
