Publisher:Admin  Source:  Date:2016/4/11

Washington state's governor signed the Toxic-Free Kids and Families Act (HB 2545) on Apr 1, 2016, restricting five flame retardants in children’s products and residential upholstered furniture sold in the state.

According to HB 2545, beginning 1 July 2017, no manufacturer, wholesaler, or retailer may manufacture, knowingly sell, offer for sale, distribute for sale, or distribute for use in this state children's products or residential upholstered furniture containing any of the following flame retardants in amounts greater than 1,000 parts per million in any product component: TDCPP, TCEP, Decabromodiphenyl ether, HBCD and TBBPA.

The department shall consider whether the following flame retardants (IPTPP, TBB, TBPH, TCPP, TPP, V6) meet the criteria of a chemical of high concern for children.

BACL advises manufactures and other parties concerned to control the content of flame retardants during production and seek for alternatives to guarantee safety of consumption.
