On 8 May 2026, the World Trade organization (WTO) circulated a proposal from the European Union announcing its intention to add an entry on terphenyl, hydrogenated in Annex XVII to Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (REACH).

In annex XVII, the following entry is added:

Final date for comments: 7 July 2026

Proposed date of adoption: Fourth quarter of 2026

Proposed date of entry into force: 20 days from publication in the Official Journal of

the EU. The application of the ban on placing on the market and use would be deferred by 18 months except for civilian aerospace applications, where a 10-year transitional period is proposed.
