CPSC Rules Cancel GCCs of Adult Apparel Exempt from Flammability
Publisher:Admin  Source:  Date:2016/3/8

On February 24, 2016,the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) voted unanimously to approve a proposal that would eliminate General Conformity Certificates (GCC) for adult apparel already exempt from flammability testing.

Why We Are Doing It?

Because of this woven-in compliance, we already know they are inherently safe. The CPSC’s decision will relieve businesses from having to create millions of certificates for clothing made from fabrics that the CPSC has already determined are inherently safe and compliant. This paperwork reduction will save businesses in the apparel industry an estimated $250 million per year.

This certificate requirement was the definition of red tape. It was an unnecessary action or task required in order to make or import low-risk adult apparel. It was a needless form and procedure required to gain bureaucratic approval. And it was costing an enormous sum, particularly for the people least able to absorb the cost. So, we cut it.

BACL Suggestion

Recently, more and more clothing and accessories are exported into America, and CPSC and FTC have updated several laws and regulations. So producer, importer and dealer should pay more attention to the regulations. Ensure product smoothly enter into the United States and maybe reduce the cost on same time.
