The National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) has officially enacted Act No. 14158, introducing significant updates to the Regulation for Conformity Assessment and Approval of Telecommunications Products. Issued under the authority of the Superintendence of Granting and Resources for Provision of Services, this act expands the regulatory framework to align with current global standards, especially those of ETSI and FCC.
This Act is now in effect, and will become mandatory beginning April 6, 2026.
This Act is now in effect, and will become mandatory beginning April 6, 2026.
Regulatory updates:
• Key technical highlights include the addition of ETSI EN 300 422-1 V2.2.1 for wireless microphone systems and the formal definition of vehicle radar systems operating up to 81 GHz in both land and maritime mobility platforms.
• New electromagnetic field sensor parameters for the 46.7–46.9 GHz band were also introduced, clarifying usage conditions tied to Act No. 4776/2020.
• The act further allows the controlled use of aircraft-mounted radar systems limited strictly to ground operations, while also authorizing fixed and mobile radar deployment in airport operation zones, provided they comply with Section 9.5 technical thresholds.
• Significant attention was given to the 5 GHz spectrum range, imposing stricter conducted output power limits, antenna gain compensation requirements, and EIRP spectral constraints for access points, client devices, and fixed point-to-point links.
• Enhanced spurious emission testing procedures with mandatory 1 MHz RBW integration have now become compulsory for certification labs.
• New compliance categories for wideband wireless audio systems were established, covering microphones and in-ear monitor systems in bands from 54 MHz to 608 MHz, introducing structured EIRP caps of 50–100 mW depending on bandwidth.
• Additionally, a new 25th section introduces regulation for terahertz-band systems operating between 116 GHz and 246 GHz, with strict 82 dBm EIRP limits for outdoor point-to-point transmitters and a total prohibition of airborne or satellite deployment in those bands.
