On 15 September 2025, the World Trade organization (WTO) circulated a proposal from the European Union announcing its intention to add an entry on 2,4-dinitrotoluene in Annex XVII to Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (REACH).

In Annex XVII, the following entry is added:

Final date for comments: 14 November 2025, 60 days from notification

Proposed date of adoption: Fourth quarter of 2025.

Proposed date of entry into force: 20 days from publication in the Official Journal of the EU.
