NBTC Publishes Standards for Digital Broadcasting Receivers!

The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) of Thailand published an announcement on October 31, 2024, in which the Technical Standard for Digital Broadcasting Receivers is published. The Technical Standard will come into force 120 days after publication in Gazette, on February 28, 2025.

 

Announcement on the Digital Broadcasting Frequency Plan

According to the Digital Broadcasting Frequency Plan, the frequency range of 174-230 MHz is designated for digital broadcasting for experimental or testing purposes, and Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) systems that encode audio signals in MPEG-4 High Efficiency Advanced Audio Coding Version 2 (MPEG-4 HE AAC v2), or DAB+ Audio, may be used.

 

NBTC Announcement on Technical Standards for Digital Broadcasting Transmitters

According to this Technical Standard, devices must show compliance with Technical Standards 3.1-3.3, and be considered as a Type A Radiocommunication Device.

 

NBTC Announcement on Technical Standards for Digital Broadcasting Receivers:

This Technical Standard specifies minimum specification for DAB receivers encoding MPEG-4 HE AAC v2, or DAB+ Audio, for the following types of DAB receivers:

Both types of Vehicle Digital Radio Receiver (Automotive Receiver)

• Domestic Portable Receiver

• Adapter for Analog in Vehicle Receiver
