March 11, SUBTEL in Chile publishes changes in regulatory policy that affect Medical Implant Communication Systems (MICS).

From now on, these systems must consider the following:

1. Operate in the 401 to 406 MHz frequency band with a maximum radiated power of 25 μW, a maximum bandwidth of 300 kHz, and use the interference mitigation

techniques outlined in Annex 1 of Recommendation ITU-R RS. 1346, of the

International Telecommunication Union, to protect its operation from the primary assignments that operate in the aforementioned frequency band.

2. Operate in the frequency zone of 2,400-2,483.5 MHz with a maximum radiated power of 2.5 mW and using frequency hopping technology.

The changes to the regulations come into force on March 12.
