On 30 June 2023, the BSI British National Standards Body published BS1363-1:2023, BS1363-2:2023, BS1363-3:2023, BS1363-4:2023 and BS1363-5: The 2023 new version of the standard, BS1363 is the plug and socket standard in the UK, and the corresponding old version of the standard will be repealed on June 30, 2026.

The BS1363 series of standards is as follows:

Ø   Part 1: Rewirable and non-rewirable 13 A fused plugs – Specification

Ø  Part 2:  13 A switched and unswitched socket-outlets – Specification

Ø  Part 3:  Adaptors

Ø  Part 4:  13 A fused connection units: switched and unswitched

Ø  Part 5:  Fused conversion plugs

The main changes in the new version of the standard are as follows:

Ø  Covers 60Hz;

Ø  The minimum copper content of current-carrying brass material is 58%;

Ø  Insulation and electrical strength testing covers indicators and internal components;

Ø  Increased test requirements for bipolar switches;

Ø  BSEN 61058 and BSEN 60669 standards were introduced
