In July 2023, the United States updated the sixth version of the safety standard for household power distribution units, and also updated the safety standard ANSI/UL 962A for furniture power distribution units, as detailed in the following summary of important updates to the standard.

New ANSI/The UL 1363 standard has the following important technical updates:

Update 1:

The charging circuit and/or secondary isolated output circuit provided by the household power strip, and the structure of the charging circuit with battery, need to consider the standard UL 62368-1, when introducing both ES and PS ratings, it is necessary to meet the  ES1 (energy level 1) and PS2 (power level 2) parameter requirements, and can also consider the relevant standards:

l  UL 1310 Class 2 Power Output Requirements,

l  Standard UL 60950-1 LPS circuit design.

Update 2:

For products containing LED lamps or wireless charging strips, the instruction manual needs to state that "removable power taps that provide auxiliary lighting are not suitable for permanent installation." Do not permanently install or unplug to permanently connect to the electrical system". The instructions allow the manufacturer to be identified by the website, which can be in the form of a URL – http:www.___.com/___/or a QR code. The information in the manual under the referenced web pages is subject to confirmation of its accuracy and effective date.

The new ANSI/UL 962A standard includes the following important technical updates:

Update 1:

UL1077 protectors that meet the breaking capacity of Table 16.1 and have 6 times the motor load parameters can be used for furniture strip products with more than 8 positions.

Update 2:

Installation instructions are required. The installation instructions allow the manufacturer to declare through the website that the URL should be marked on the body or packaging. The URL can be in the form of URL – http:www.___.com/___/ or in the form of a QR code.
