Safety certification and testing standards for lithium battery portable energy storage products in the global market:

1. United States:

According to UL 2743:2023 standard for certification, US security certifications such as UL and ETL are voluntary and can be applied for voluntarily. If you are going to Amazon, only a UL 2743 test report is required.

Lithium ion cell (cell) standard: UL1642, with UL 2580 and UL 1973 added as optional cell standards.

Note: The applicable standard for lithium batteries in emergency starting power sources for automobiles is UL2743.

2. China:

At present, there is no specific standard for this type of product. The practice is to use GB-4943.1 as the main standard for the entire machine, and GB-31241 is used for internal lithium batteries, only quality inspection reports are issued.

3. Japan:

It has been confirmed on the official website of METI in Japan that energy storage power products with AC output are not classified as batteries and belong to products outside the PSE object, and cannot apply for PSE certification.

The current practice is to make a circular PSE for the internal lithium battery, and the entire machine can produce a safety confirmation report according to IEC 62368-1 report and Japanese deviation.

If the lithium battery report is required to include a photo of the entire machine, and the PSE circular logo is added to the entire machine, there is a risk of being taken off the shelf. At present, products from major domestic manufacturers have been taken off the shelves on Japanese e-commerce platforms.

Note: Due to the lack of AC output, automotive emergency power supplies are usually considered similar to mobile power sources and can apply for PSE certification.

4. EU:

At present, there is no specific coordinated standard for portable energy storage products. According to the EU alert market supervision and inspection opinions, for energy storage power supplies with AC output, similar products are considered to have the function of UPS uninterruptible power supply by market supervision. The general recommendation for safety regulations is to use EN IEC 62368-1+EN IEC 62040. If they have other functions such as lighting, additional evaluation of other standards is required based on different functions. 5. South Korea:

Perform KC certification according to KC 62619:2022 standard. Similar to lithium battery products, CB certification is required first, with the standard IEC 62619:2022, and then the CB certification is applied for KC certification in South Korea.

6. Australia:

According to AS/NZS 62368-1 and AS/NZS 4763 standards, SAA certification is not mandatory.
