On May 4, 2023, the European Commission adopted a draft exemption for mercury in melt pressure transducers for capillary rheometers under certain conditions in Annex IV under Directive 2011/65/EU (RoHS). The draft was initiated for public consultation from December 12, 2022 to January 9, 2023. Next, the EU will officially add this exemption in its Official Journal by issuing a RoHS revision directive.

In Annex IV to Directive 2011/65/EU, the following entry 49 is proposed to be added:
