On 1 November 2022, the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) confirmed that they would accept Certificates of Conformity (CoCs) regarding Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) applications with International Laboratory Accreditation Co-Operation (ILAC) test reports. Previously SABS only granted EMC CoC certificates to manufacturers who tested their products in SABS Authorized Laboratories (SABS A-Lab).

Starting from November 1, 2022, manufacturers can apply for the SABS EMC CoC certificate using the EMC report issued by an ILAC accredited laboratory or SABS laboratory (SABS A-Lab).

The certification period for SABS EMC CoC is 90 days using the report issued by an ILAC-authorized laboratory that is not SABS A-Lab, and the certification period for applying for EMC CoC is 30 days using the report issued by SABS A-Lab.
