On November 3, 2022, Indonesia’s Directorate General of Resources and Equipment for Post and Information Technology (SDPPI) held a virtual meeting regarding Ethernet Network Telecommunications Equipment Technical Standard.

Below are the main points:

• The regulation covers devices that have two or more ethernet interfaces that can connect to other networks or network devices. Server-like devices that connect to end point devices are not included in the regulation;

• Instead of a Functional Test, applicants should attach EMC and safety reports as well as a DoC submitted and signed by the applicant based on IEEE 802.3. Optical Interfaces must have a laser safety test report attached (IEC60825-1);

• Layer 2 and Layer 3 switches with laser function on the SFP (the SFP module may be detached) are not required to attach a laser safety test report (IEC60825-1);

• If the device has wireless features such as Bluetooth or WLAN, it must be submitted according to the applicable regulations;

• EMC is still using CISPR 32 while CISPR 35 is still in the assessment stage.

The regulation entered into effect on August 1, 2022.
