In April 2022, The Agência Nacional de Telecomunicações (ANATEL) of Brazil issued Act 5159 regulating mobile phone charger requirements which revokes the previous Act 3481 by making some changes in the EMC testing for vehicle chargers and adding new mechanical testing for wall chargers’ plug. This act was originally to be enforced on October 26, 2022.

However, on October 14, 2022, ANATEL published a new Act 13423 with main points as below:

1. Act 3481 will be revoked only on October 21, 2023;

2. The implementation of new Act 5159 is optional until then;

3. From October 26, 2022 – October 21, 2023, charger manufacturers are able to choose between Act 3481 or Act 5159.
