Publisher:Admin  Source:  Date:2022/7/13

Due to the increasing amount of e-waste, the European Union issued the General Legislative Procedure 2021/0291 (COD) as early as 2021, which was put on the agenda for the revision of the Directive 2014/53/EU on Radio Frequency Devices.

On June 7, 2022, representatives of the European Parliament and the Council agreed on a new agreement that plans to amend the European Union Radio Equipment Directive RED 2014/53/EU. It is stipulated that from the Fall of 2024, only the USB type-C port will be used on certain electronic devices. This regulation will be officially approved after the Summer, and wireless charging technology is still one of the optional methods in parallel with USB-Type C port.

For the chargers and charging data cables, the European Union has also released an impact assessment research report. From the distribution chart, USB Type C-C ports will basically cover all products.

Regulatory Update Impact:

According to the latest regulations, consumers do need to purchase and use a different charging device and charging cable every time you buy a new RF device.

In the future, all portable RF electronic devices can be compatible with the same charging device and charging device and Cords. Such as: cell phones, tablets, e-readers, earbuds, digital cameras, headphones and headsets, handheld game consoles, and portable speakers that charge via cable must all have USB Type-C connectors, and laptops must be in the new this requirement is met within 40 months of the regulation coming into force.

This will bring the structural design of the charging port and the change and influence of the circuit design to many wireless radio frequency devices, maximize the unified charging interface of electronic devices, and become more and more convenient for consumers to use.
