On June 20, 2022, The UK Government updated the guidance for placing manufactured goods on the market in Great Britain. Below are the main updates:
1. The conformity assessment document for the CE marking completed before December 31, 2022 can be directly used for the UKCA marking without re-testing. This is valid until the expiration of its CE-RED type confirmation certificate or until December 31, 2027, whichever is sooner.
2. Products that have been imported to UK market, do not requirere-test or UKCA re-labeling.
3. Parts and components imported for the purpose of repairing, replacing or maintaining a product or system already on the UK market may still apply the regulatory requirements that were applicable when the product or system was originally imported into the UK market.
4. Until December 31, 2025, it’s allowed to mark the UKCA mark on the nameplate of the product itself or on the documents accompanying the product. Starting from January 1, 2026, it can only be marked on the nameplate of the product.
5. For products imported from the EEA (European Economic Area), until December 31, 2025, the importer information can also be shown on the accompanying documents of the product. From January 1, 2026, it can only be marked on the product itself. Unless the size of the product is too small or the shape of the product does not allow it, the logo is acceptable on the accompanying documents.
6. For products imported into the UK from regions other than the EEA, will apply the original regulations. But from January 1, 2023, the importer information needs to be marked on the label of the product body. Marking on accompanying documents is acceptable unless the size or shape of the product is too small to allow it.
Remark: The above adjusted requirements do not apply to medical equipment, construction products, transportable pressure equipment, ropeways, unmanned aerial systems, rail products and marine equipment. Relevant departments are making specific arrangements for these special industries. Updates to relevant import labeling and testing will be announced before the end of the year.
