On May 24, 2022, The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) of India issued a notification that the following 5 devices are exempted from MTCTE/TEC approval:

• Mobile user equipment/mobile handset

• Server

• Smart Watch

• Smart Camera

• Point of Sale Devices

The exemptions on these widely used products will reduce the compliance burden and will enable the industry to roll out their products faster as it will reduce import delays. The Gazette Notification in this regard will be issued in due course.
