The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Nicaragua (TELCOR) published Administrative Agreement No. 005-2021 on the authorization of short-range and long-range equipment (LPWAN), repealing the old regulation Nº004-2007.  

The main changes are:

• After obtaining the corresponding certification, SRD and LPWAN of 915~928 MHz are allowed to be imported and commercialized on a shared basis.

• Adopt the latest editions of ITU reports ITU-R SM.2153 and ITU-R SM.2423 as the main source of advice and reference for authorizing and establishing SRDandLPWAN operations, while TELCOR publishes respective national regulations.

• Adopt the latest editions of ITU-r SM.2153 and ITU-r SM.2423 reports as the main source of consultation and reference for authorizing and establishing SRD and LPWAN operations, while TELCOR publishes corresponding national regulations.

Additionally, the Authority has confirmed via email that RFID is permitted in the 865 and 868 MHz bands in addition to the 915a and 928 MHz bands.
