March 22, 2022, ECHA's risk assessment committee (Rac) has adopted its final Opinion supporting Norway's proposal to restrict the flame retardant dechlorane plus (DP) under REACH. The agency's socio-economic analysis committee (Seac) has also supported the restriction and its draft Opinion is open for consultation until 16 May.
ECHA identified DP as an SVHC in 2018 because it is very persistent and very bioaccumulative (vPvB). it is used as a flame retardant in adhesives, sealants and polymers, particularly for motor vehicles and aircraft.
