On 16 February 2022, Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority published Regulation N° 012/R/STDICT/RURA/2021 governing the importation, supply and type approval of electronic communications equipment.

This regulation establish a regulatory framework on importation, supply and type approval of electronic communications equipment in Rwanda. All electronic communications equipment which connects directly to a public electronic communications network and all intentional transceivers of radio waves have to be type approved byRwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority (RURA).

This Regulation came into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Rwanda.
