2022-01-17, European Commission issued the notification for the standby and off mode electric power consumption of electrical and electronic household and office equipment, the new draft regulation was issued, the regulation number is undetermined. The final date for comments is 60 days from the notification, the proposed date of the adoption of the new regulation is September 2022, and the proposed date of entry into force is 01 September 2024. Then the current regulation (EC) No 1275-2008 will be replaced by the new regulation.

The update of the new draft regulation is as below:

• The new regulation combines the contents of both (EC) No 1275-2008 and (EU) No, not only includes the requirements of the standby mode and off mode specified in (EC) No 1275-2008, but also includes the requirements of the network standby mode specified in (EU) No 801/2013.

• The new regulation updates the scope of the Annex I in (EC) No 1275-2008, deletes the inapplicable products, such as Washing machines, Dish washing machines, Cooking, Television sets, and adds Adjustable furniture and Motor-operated building elements.

• The new regulation adds the definition of the network standby in (EU) No 801/2013.

• The new regulation adds the requirements of the network standby in (EU) No 801/2013.

• The new regulation updates the Ecodesign requirements of (EC) No 1275-2008: for the standby mode with the information or status display, the limit of power consumption is changed from 1.0W to 0.8W.

• The new regulation requires the Measurements and calculations shall be made using harmonized standards, the reference numbers of which have been published for this purpose in the Official Journal of the European Union，and adds the test instruction of network equipment.

• The Annex III of the new regulation combines the verification requirements of the off mode, standby mode and network standby mode, as below:
