Saudi Arabia CITC Updates GEN002 Requirements
Publisher:Admin  Source:  Date:2022/2/21

The Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) of Saudi Arabia has updated technical specification “GEN002 – Requirements for Specific ICT Equipment.” Previously, the technical specification stated that 5G NR frequency requirements (n1, n3, n8, n28, n40, n71 and n77) would enter into force on July 1, 2022 for both categories (Requirements for Mobile Phones, Tablets and Mobile Computers, and Requirements for Mobile Routers and CPEs).

In response to feedback from manufacturers, CITC has announced that the n71 frequency band will not be mandatory in 2022, only frequency bands: n1, n3, n8, n28, n40, and n77 will be required in addition to the current n41 and n78 requirement. However, CITC still encouraged people to include band n71 in devices and consider it in their future devices to be imported for the Saudi market. Further details on the new date of enforcement will be shared soon.
