On February 5, 2022, The Malaysian Regulator SIRIM officially announced that Short Range Devices (SRD) which use frequencies 5925-6425 MHz (e.g., Wi-Fi 6E) could currently be approved and certified.
As laboratory testing is mandatory for compliance approval, there are 2 methods to get a product certified in Malaysia:
1. Using an already available test report which meets the requirements of ETSI EN 303 687 draft standard (or equivalent standards). In addition, the standard must be included in the accreditation scope of the testing laboratory.
2. If there are no test reports for a product which is to be approved, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and Radio Frequency (RF) testing can be alternatively conducted at the SIRIM Lab.
The frequency band and the maximum transmit power requirements can be found in item 17, Table 2-1 of the Class Assignment No. 1 of 2022 (as in Table 1 below):
