The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) is set for 5G spectrum auction in March 2022. The commission has designated 2.3 GHz, 2.6 GHz and 3.5 GHz spectrum bands for the implementation of 5G technology-based cellular mobile services. Half population of the country is expected to enjoy 5G services by 2027 under the initiatives of the Posts and Telecommunications Division and Teletalk Bangladesh Limited with the cooperation of Huawei Bangladesh Limited.
