On December 27, 2021, The Instituto Federal de Telecomunicaciones (IFT or IFETEL) of Mexico has published updates to the Conformity Assessment Procedures (CAP) for Telecommunications and Broadcasting, also known as the PEC process.
Below are the main points:
1. Local importers or distributors will be allowed to use a Certificate of Conformity (CoC) issued to another local company, such as the manufacturer’s local office.
2. Test reports will not be automatically shared with IFETEL. However, IFETEL may require the lab to share this information when required. This change was made due to confidentiality reason.
3. Test report validity has been extended from 60 days to 120 days.
4. Renewal under Scheme 2 (multiple batch) will be able to be completed through paperwork alone, new test report is not required when the total amount of units declared in the CoC is completed.
5. Both new and used / non-new products must comply under the PEC regulation.
6. Four approval schemes are available under the current PEC with updates below:

These changes will come into effect on June 25, 2022.
