As 3G network service ends on December 31st, 2021, Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) issued notification on 23rd December, about the certification and renewal process of 3G devices that support other technologies (2G, 4G and/or 5G). Below is the new approach for the said devices:

1. Renewal of existing Certificate of Compliance (CoC)

The existing CoC can be renewed without any changes, whereas the 3G feature information will be maintained as per existing CoC.

2. New Type Approval Application

2.1 Since the said device will not be able to ride on any 3G network, Type Approval applicant may voluntary choose to include 3G feature in the new CoC.

2.2 Applicant who opts to include 3G feature in new CoC is required to submit the related test report as specified in the Technical Code SKMM WTS IMT-MT.

The above implementation has been effective on January 1, 2022.
