On 17 June 2021, the Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources issued Regulation No. 14 concerning the Application of Minimum Energy Performance Standard (SKEM) mark for Energy Consuming Equipment.

This Regulation obliges manufacturers and importers to apply the SKEM mark and energy saving label on the equipment to show that it meets the minimum energy efficiency limits and criteria. In addition, the Regulation repealed Regulation No. 57/2017 on Minimum Energy Performance Standards and Inclusion of Energy Efficient Labels for Air Conditioning Devices and Regulation No. 18/2014 on the Energy Efficiency Labelling of Self-Ballasted Lamps.

The main points are as follows：

• The result of the self-ballast lamp test from the Testing Laboratory that has been determined before this Ministerial Regulation came into force, is declared to remain valid for one application of the Energy Saving Certificate;

• Local manufacturers and Importers of self-ballasted lamps who already had the test results before this Ministerial Regulation came into force, must apply for the issuance of Energy Saving Certificates in accordance with the provisions in this Ministerial Regulation within a period of no later than 12 (twelve) months since this Ministerial Regulation came into force.

• The Certificate of Energy Saving for Air Conditioning Appliances, issued prior to the entry into force of this Ministerial Regulation, is declared to remain valid until the term of the Energy Saving Certificate expires.

Regulation No. 14 came into force on 22 June 2021.
