Ministry of Industry of Thailand set out a minimum energy performance standard (MEPS) for household washing machines by publishing “Ministerial Regulation regarding designation of washing machines for household use as an industrial product which shall conform to industrial standard prescribing requirements for energy efficiency” in the Royal Gazette on 31 August 2021 by virtue of Industrial Product Standard Act. The regulation mandates household washing machines to conform with the Thai Industrial Standard for Clothes Washing Machines for Household Use – Energy Efficiency Requirements (TIS 1462-2562 (2019)). The regulation will be effective 180 days after the announcement in the Royal Gazette which is on 27 February 2022.
