On 2 March 2021, the Thai Ministry of Industry published a Ministerial Regulation under the authority of the Industrial Product Standards Act.

The Regulation stated that certain household refrigerators and refrigerator-freezers including refrigerators or freezers with compressed air cooling system shall comply with Thai Industrial Standard TIS 2186 - 2561 (2018) which is the energy efficiency requirements. This regulation is approved according to Announcement No. 5711 of the Ministry of Industry dated 29 May 2020.

The standard came into force on 29 August 2021.
