On September 8, 2021 the Agência Nacional de Telecomunicações (ANATEL) in Brazil has opened Public Consultation No. 47. The goal of this consultation is to improve the procedures of the local testing for technical conformity assessment of cell phone chargers by creating a new Act to replace Act 3481.

The main types of mobile phone chargers involved in the public consultation are as follows:

a) chargers whose power source is the electric power network with alternating current (AC).

b) special purpose USB interfaces (ports) for powering electronic devices, without data transmission functionality.

c) inductive chargers, regardless of the type of electrical power source.

The consultation will be open for comments until November 7, 2021.
