In July 2021, the California Energy Commission (CEC) officially issued the latest version of CEC Title20 energy regulations for appliances: CEC-140-2021-002. The new version is mainly a partial revision of the content of CEC Title20 2019,and the key changes are as follows： 

Change 1: Effective March 16, 2021, amendments to Title 20 self-contained lighting controls and other minor amendments.

This rulemaking includes the removal of the appliance type called “self-contained lighting controls” from Title 20, which includes the removal of definitions; efficiency standards; and testing, marking, and certification requirements related to this appliance. Self-contained lighting controls are no longer required to comply with Title 20 in order to be sold or offered for sale in California and no longer required to be listed in the MAEDbS database as of the effective date described above.

Change 2: For portable LED luminaire, Table N-3 cancles the minimum light output requirement of 200lm, other unchanged.  The effective date is March 16, 2021.

Change 3: Added rulemaking requirements for pool pump of specific purpose types

Change 4: Updated the requirements for submitting data items in Table X for certain types of products.  The emergency lighting product has deleted the requirement of independent control, and does not distinguish the two categories of light bulb and luminaire. The effective date is March 16, 2021.
